Woman's Picture

An Evelyn Avenue production in colaboration with the Wahpeton Film Collective. (Worldwide sales: The Film Collaborative, La.) Created by L'ensemble des Edwards, Catherine Keenan, John Pera. Co-producers, Pam Parker Branham, Elva Pera Kelly. Directed, compiled by John Pera from the story idea by Ann Magnuson, Pera. With: Ann Magnuson, Calpernia Addams, Amy Lavere, Angela Dee, Gerald L'Ecuyer, Corey Parker, John Pera, Paul Provenza, Sally Stover.A self-purposely postmodern triptych reconsidering the topic of its title, author-director John Pera's "Woman's Picture" takes too lengthy to achieve significantly satisfying findings about its three female figures, caught in classic melodramatic situations. Pic sometimes feels as though it's in suspended animation, with figures on conceptual marionette strings -- that could be interesting inside a brilliant filmmaker's hands. Cera might achieve that much cla later on work, but this project's sheer unevenness will turn it into a try to sell you with experts and auds alike. The pic's three parts are entitled using the names from the heroines in focus, beginning with "Ingrid," in regards to a lady (Calpernia Addams) who's were built with a sex-change operation and it is going to her mother (Sally Stover) the very first time possible dramatic fireworks, though, never really ignite. Fassbinder meets Sirk in second episode, "Loretta," where a meek motel maid (Amy Lavere) is mistaken for any call girl with a client, resulting in role-having fun with a rather surreal edge. Undoubtedly the very best section, "Miriam" is really a showcase for Ann Magnuson (towards the top of her game) like a home-shopping-network host whose best days are behind her.Camera (color, B&W, HD), Ryan Parker editor, Eileen Meyer music, Paul Allen Taylor music supervisor, Joe Mullherin production designer, Bard Cole, Pera costume designers, Alicia Boldreghini George, Meriwether Nichols, Pera, Peter Cohen. Potter Finale Conjures Up $1 Billion Worldwide

FIRST PUBLISHED: July 31, 2011 5:01 PM EDT LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Harry Potter has joined the billion-dollar club. Distributor Warner Bros. said Sunday that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Its soon expected to pass Pirates of Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is this years top grossing movie at $1.03 billion. The last of the eight films about the young wizard is the first in the franchise to reach the billion dollar mark. The previous best global haul was $974.8 million for the original film, 2001s Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. With $21.9 million domestically this weekend, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 climbed to a domestic total of $318.5 million. That tops the franchises previous best of $317.6 million for Sorcerers Stone. But factoring in todays higher admission prices, Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has not caught up to Sorcerers Stone in terms of actual tickets sold. The 2009 film Avatar holds the record for the biggest worldwide box office haul, grossing $2.8 billion. Its followed by another James Cameron film, Titanic, which brought in $1.8 billion. Small children &lifier Tiaras Pageant Mother: This Really Is My Hobby

Small children and Tiaras Wendy Dickey has put 3-year-old daughter Paisley in "60-something" pageants, including Miss Sugarplum Fairy, as seen about this week's Small children &lifier Tiaras (Wednesdays, 10/9c, TLC). Like many featured on the program, Dickey's raising a child philosophy is unorthodox. Below, Dickey discusses bribing her child with sugar, emphasizing beauty at this type of youthful age and mentioning to her child as "just a little turd." Mother of Small children &lifier Tiaras' pageant prince: "He's very comfortable in the skin" I discovered your honesty on the program uncommon: You say you don't determine if Paisley would do pageants by herself accord which here's your hobby.Wendy Dickey: It had been my decision to obtain her into pageants when she was 6 several weeks old, but as she has changed into a your child and into making her very own choices, she really loves pageants. She would like to get it done. There might come a period when she informs me, "I am through by using it,Inch so when she does, we'll pursue another thing she may enjoy. Lots of parents whose children are in pageants state that, but as this is your hobby, how can you tell that you simply will not finish up resenting your daughter in case of her insufficient interest?Dickey: I understand which i wouldn't resent her, however i would hate it. It might break my heart, because I like it a lot. It is something we all do together. We spend lots of time in the pageants and particularly about the car journeys [back and forth from them]. But when she decides they do not and when it isn't fun on her, it will not be fun for me personally. She does love gymnastics, tap and ballet, therefore we will have some backup copies for non-pageant things. Whatever she decides I'll support her 100 %. However I will admit that it'll break my heart. It is indeed my hobby. On the program, Paisley states she'd rather search and ride a four-wheeler compared to pageants. Why don't you just put her on the rear of a bicycle?Dickey: We all do both. We spend lots of weekends doing pageants, but we also spend considerable time camping. I've two sons who also like to camping, search, seafood, everything. Our family's very outdoorsy, so she really will get the very best of both mobile phone industry's. Small children &lifier Tiaras' pageant director to experts: You shouldn't be ugly Your husband, Scott, as well as your sons all express some disdain for pageantry. It is possible to civil war happening within your house?Dickey: Not necessarily. My hubby loves it when she competes in [and] wins in natural pageants. This is the true girl and a specific item is real. Whereas glamour, anybody can win a glamour pageant. Many of the glamour pageants derive from the makeup part and also the digital photographer, and less the kid. Scott states that glamour pageants steal children's innocence. Would you accept that?Dickey: I do not really accept that, and I am unsure he did not state that because he's heard it a lot. With him as being a father, he will become more protective and much more anti-glamour. I truly don't believe he feels this way. I understand that after we are questioned, we often get nervous and also you say stuff that don't quite come view you planned it. I do not seem like it steals their innocence. It's dress-up. At some point you make reference to doing pageants as "addictive."Dickey: It's. When won by you, it's like, "Okay, let us go win more!" Should you perform a pageant and also you lose, it's like, "Let us go do a different one therefore we can win again." Is the fact that a warning sign, though, for you? Anything that's addictive might be harmful.Dickey: You need to be wise about this. If there is a pageant you want to do and not have the money, we'll spread it. We have to keep an amount mind. Mom of Small children &lifier Tiaras' Eden Wood: "We are not weirdos, we are not freaks" How about the concept that emphasizing a child's appearance at this type of youthful age could offer her a warped worldview?Dickey: Paisley's very youthful at this time and does not know very well what this means to become beautiful. She thinks everyone's beautiful. However when she will get older, I'll train her, "You are beautiful out of your attitude and exactly how you act." You need to train that like a mother. You do not place all the focus on beauty, but here again, we are speaking about beauty pageants. In the event that's what you are doing, you are doing something depending on beauty. I attempt to train her to that particular, when she wins, go tell another women, "Good job!" Or when she manages to lose, I attempt to train her to get rid of humbly, and [not] create a large deal about this. Again, she's very youthful. I do not think she knows. I do not think she knows when she manages to lose. Let me know about bribing Paisley with sugar.Dickey: She loves Skittles. We use that to bribe her. For any glamour pageant, they need to be still whenever you do their head of hair, therefore we offer her a Skittle sometimes simply to pass time or get her by permitting ready. But pageant day isn't a day to day factor within our family. She reaches do things on pageant day that they normally doesn't. Of all days, she doesn't get lots of sugar. Watch Small children &lifier Tiaras videos If she does not be aware of distinction between winning and losing, do you consider she knows the main difference between pageant day and non-pageant day?Dickey: I believe she's determined that pageant day is her big day, because she does pull off more things than usual tomorrow. I believe she thinks about it as being [she'd] her birthday: a unique day. One factor which i be prepared to be questionable is you make reference to Paisley like a "turd."Dickey: Whenever we were filming, she was 2, and whomever emerged using the term "terrible twos" understood the things they were speaking about. There has been lots of occasions backstage where she's behaved like what we should call "just a little turd," and when she hits happens, she adopts pageant mode. That's only a nickname she's developed and lots of my buddies within the pageant business call her "just a little turd," because she functions like one. We are saying by using a spontaneity. She can be a sweet young girl.
